As part of the PartiCiP au DEL programme, the advice and trainings provided earlier by VNG International, to facilitate access to agricultural credit for market garden cooperatives, is rapidly bearing fruit. For example, the Glégnon, Shalom, Bénin Agro Vert and Mont Horeb cooperatives (in the municipality of Sèmè-Kpodji) have just been granted reduced-rate loans. These cooperatives have been granted loans ranging from FCFA 1.5 million to FCFA 4 million. This money is immediately reinjected by the cooperatives into their production. The new procedures counteract the cooperatives' bad experiences with high interest rates and conditions that are not adapted to the nature of agricultural activity, which are proving to be counter-productive.

For their part, the decentralised financial systems that grant these loans salute the collaboration with the cooperatives and are convinced that their contribution will enable the development of the agricultural sector. The PartiCiP au DEL programme is also continuing its awareness-raising and information activities with a view to achieving transparent and inclusive governance in the 5 pilot communes in Benin.
