The World Bank reviewed the implementation progress of its Country Partnership Framework to ensure its alignment with the current realities in Ethiopia and the needs of the Ethiopian people in a conference organized at the UN Conference Center in Addis Ababa on Monday, 25 March 2019.
Participants articulated their views regarding the areas the Bank should focus on in order to maximize its development impact in Ethiopia and better support development objectives outlined in Ethiopia’s Growth and Transformation Plan II. Discussions centered on defining meaningful program objectives and indicators which focus on qualitative rather than quantitative achievements. Reflecting on this, Country Director for Ethiopia, Sudan and South Sudan, Nicole Klingen said, “Having a nurse in a clinic does not necessarily mean children are vaccinated.” The event also provided an occasion for WB projects, including Social Accountability, to showcase their project activities and achievements at individual booths.
