VNG international is a partner in the implementation of the USAID-funded CITIES project in Jordan. The main contractor is Chemonics International, Washington DC, USA.

We contribute to the service delivery theme with strategic and development planning (in all 12 governorates, the 16 biggest municipalities and over 70 small municipalities), training on contract management, street maintenance and vehicle maintenance (up to 33 municipalities), as well as feasibility studies and plans for solar energy for street lighting (in 6 municipalities) and solid waste management (in 27 municipalities). Sometimes equipment is delivered too, to enable the beneficiary municipalities to concretely address services delivery gaps.

Our most visible contribution is in the preparation of street maps and installation of street name signs and building numbers in nine big municipalities. The process of choosing street names is participatory and based on the decisions of municipal councils.
