At the end of 2021, The Netherlands Enterprise Agency RVO launched the LAND-at-scale programme in fourteen countries, financed by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. VNG International, together with Aid Organization ZOA and MiPAREC, launched the Amahoro@Scale project in Burundi in January 2022. Land-at-Scale is a land governance support which aims to improve fit-for-purpose land administration, land-use management planning, access to justice in the case of land-related conflict and conflict resolution, and inclusiveness in access to land (specifically for women, youth and vulnerable people). In doing so, the programme wishes to make an important contribution to the realization of several SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), by increasing food and nutrition security, economic development, peace and stability, and social justice.
The programme further hopes to increase knowledge and learn from innovative approaches about land governance methods that lead to structural change, and set up new and improved action-oriented multi-stakeholder networks which can help sustain just, inclusive and sustainable land governance. For more information about the project in Burundi, you can read the project description here or consult the one-pager which was published last month here: https://landportal.org/library/resources/land-scale-burundi.
Land-at-scale projects are carried out in fourteen different countries across multiple continents, and are carried out by a wide range of different organisations, ranging from government and research institutions, NGO’s to Dutch Embassies.
