VNG International is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Pieter Jeroense as our new Director from the 9^th May 2022.

As Director, Pieter will provide leadership to our initiatives of strengthening democratic local governments worldwide and safeguard continuation of the activities across the VNG International group. Pieter will consolidate and build on our strong partnerships in the global networks of local governments.

Pieter has a successful history within VNG, where he will continue to be the Deputy General Director. Before joining VNG in 2017 Pieter worked at several Dutch municipalities (Alphen aan den Rijn, Rotterdam and Leiden), and at the Netherlands ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Pieter will replace Mr. Peter Knip, who leaves the VNG after a 33 years successful career working on Peace and Local Democracy, founding VNG International and building it to the appreciated organisation you all know today. Peter will start his retirement from the 1^st July 2022.
