It took a 45 minutes interactions with the Director - Mr. Peter Knip to shape my impression of task at hand as envisioned by such an admirable leader who has committed his entire work life to advance for strong grassroots institutions for effective and inclusive democratic governance. I could never have been more grateful for an opportunity to work under the guidance of such a captivating person who has emboldened in me the desire to make my share of input into the work of VNG International.

In a transition democracy such as Uganda, functional institutions, responsive structures and leadership capacity to steer and govern society to create better futures for its citizens remains largely elusive. And yet, within the work of VNG International in Uganda and with opportunities to learn and share across the globe, I see the passion and determination inspired by Mr. Peter Knip at the global stage taking shape through our individual and collective input in the governance structures and institutions at the grassroots level.

Although a gradual process, witnessing citizen participation in governance processes and recognizing their individual and collective responsibilities in shaping their destinies for a better future has been a worthwhile experience. Even as Mr. Peter Knip leaves the stage, there are lots of experiences he hands over to VNG International and the Local Governance fraternity as his legacy of commitment and passion to inclusive governance.
