Within the framework of the project of preparing a regional plan for West Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate, which targets the eight localities of Shuqba, Qibya, Budrus, Shabtin, Kharbatha Bani Harith, Deir Qadis, Nilin and Al-Medya, a community workshop was held on Saturday 27 May 2023 to evaluate planning alternatives in the region. Participants included representatives of Local community institutions, representatives from local authorities, the Joint Services Council for Planning and Development for the villages of west of Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate, the basic planning team, and members of the project’s sectoral committees. Representatives from the Ministry of Local Government and sectoral ministries were also involved, in addition to representatives of VNG International.

During the workshop, the results of the studies, possibilities and challenges of development in the region were reviewed and discussed. The planning goals for the urban development in the region were also reviewed, which was prepared by a consulting team from "Universal Group for Engineering and Consulting". In light of what was presented, the development vision for the planning area was formulated, development alternatives were evaluated and the optimal planning alternative for spatial development, which would contribute to achieving sustainable development in the targeted area, was selected.
