The wider objective of the project is to design a sub national pooled financing mechanism for local governments and cities in Uganda and build their capacity to operationalize it.

The purpose of the subnational pooled financing mechanism for LGs and Cities in Uganda is to provide a mechanism for cooperation between local governments in Uganda with the aim of achieving cost-efficient financing for sub-national and regional infrastructure projects. Which can be through individual projects or through the aggregation and pooling of small projects.


The expected results of the project are:
(i) to conduct a desk study as to inform the design of a subnational pooled financing mechanism
(ii) to design the subnational pooled financing mechanism for LGs and Cities in Uganda
(iii) to build the capacity of LGs and Cities to operationalize the subnational pooled financing mechanism
